We are encouraged, as Christians, to support the widows and orphans (James 1:27). This should not simply be limited to the two social groups, but as an example to us that we should help those who are in need.

As a congregation, we have made a conscious effort to help some of the poorest in our global community, as well as others who serve God in other congregations.

Malawi

Seed & Fertiliser Project

For a number of years, we have been supporting the Seed & Fertiliser Project in Malawi. This helps families to be self supporting by allowing them to grow crops for their family, and maybe a little more to sell to others.

In an area of Africa that can find it difficult to grow the crops they need, both the type of grain and the fertiliser used allows them to grow healthy crops.

Orphanage

At the same time as the Seed & Fertiliser Project, we saw the need for supporting some of the orphans in Ekwendeni.

Many of our members give on a regular basis to support an orphan. We receive regular feedback to see how they are getting on.

It is also a project for our children's Sunday classes to raise £60 a quarter to send to them. They usually far exceed this amount.

India

Bro Jayarajan

For a number of years, we have been the sole support for Bro. Jayarajan. He is a preacher who works in the Andhra Pradesh region of India.

He works tirelessly for the churches in that region, helping other preachers to fulfil their calling as well.

He has had to overcome a lot of personal hardships, and we were honoured to be able to send a small campaign group to visit him in the Spring of 2019, and help in the work.
